Altar Servers help facilitate our Eucharistic liturgies in a traditional and reverent manner. Serving the people of God while we worship in the church is a way of growing closer to God, and it is a very special privilege. Altar Servers help our priests at the altar, they carry the cross, and they carry the light of Christ as the Gospel is proclaimed. How wonderful this is! This ministry is open to anyone who has entered the fifth grade or older, and has received their First Holy Communion. We encourage and welcome older youths to volunteer as well. Many St John the Baptist altar servers have served throughout their high school years, because they enjoy this service and bringing joy to our parish community. This ministry is also open to seniors, and retired adults who may be available during weekdays to assist our priests with funerals and other masses and services. Training sessions can be arranged around your schedule, and Mass assignments made in keeping with the Mass that you and your family usually attend. If you are interested in sharing in our altar serving ministry, please contact SJB Rectory at 215.482.4600.

RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Are you or someone you
know considering joining the Catholic Church or learning about the teachings of the Church? Do you have a desire to be Baptized or receive Holy Communion? If the answer is YES, please
join us in the RCIA - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults beginning this week. This is an opportunity to come together in a small group with other inquirers.
Sessions focus on the teachings of the Church, the experience of being Church, and how to pray and grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. The goal is to help prepare individuals to receive the
Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist); or to be received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church if an individual has already been baptized in another Christian
denomination. Candidates are welcome to participate in the process with questions, personal insights and their own faith story in a warm and accepting setting with others. The RCIA
process is a beautiful and often life-changing journey, and all are welcome. Please join us by
calling 215-482-4600 and ask for Kristi, Adult Faith Formation Director. St. John the Baptist is located at 146 Rector Street in Manayunk, wwwstjohnmanayunk.org. We also offer Confirmation-only for Adults in the Spring each year beginning after Easter. Contact Kristi above for more
information.
We welcome anyone who attends weekend masses regularly to serve as Usher and greet our parishioners and visitors. Please see one of our ushers in the rear of church at the mass you are attending if interested in Ushering.
