Exploring Catholicism

The journey of deciding if Jesus Christ is calling you to the Catholic faith, is called the “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” (RCIA).

RCIA

Is a period of step by step exploration of the Catholic faith for those who are not Catholic and wish to learn more about the Catholic faith.  RCIA is for those:

  • Who wish to become Catholic.
  • Who are baptized Catholic but never completed the other sacraments of initiation (Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation).
  • Who are baptized in other Christian denominations but feel drawn to the Catholic faith.
  • Who simply wish to learn more about the Catholic faith.

What is involved? We gather on Monday evenings from 7-8:30 in a small, friendly informal group with the sole goal of assisting those in attendance with any and all questions or concerns regarding the Catholic faith.  Attendance at the RCIA sessions is mandatory and we begin mid-September and the catechumens/candidates are received into the Church at the Easter Vigil the following spring.

The following website provides you with further details concerning RCIA: http://www.usccb.org/beliefs-and-teachings/who-we-teach/rite-of-christian-initiation-of-adults/

Also, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or to register for the upcoming fall program to: Kristi Bushner, Adult Faith Formation Director @ 610-246-3778 or e-mail Kristi at faith@stjohnmanayunk.org.

How about joining the RCIA team?

Would like to share your love and passion for the Catholic faith with others?  If so, consider joining St. John the Baptist’s RICA team.  This consists of a small group of dedicated parishioners who are willing to offer their time and effort towards mentoring someone on their journey of faith.  This is a deeply rewarding endeavor and often an avenue for strengthening one’s own knowledge and love for the faith.  If you are interested in joining the RCIA team, kindly contact Kristi Bushner @ 610-246-3778 or e-mail Kristi at faith@stjohnmanayunk.org.
