Parish Religious Education Program (PREP)

 

In fulfilling our mission, PREP is offered to families within our parish community!  PREP meets Sunday Mornings beginning with the 9AM Mass,  with all students must be ready to assemble in church as soon as mass ends or no later than 9:45.  Class ends at 11:30 AM.

2018-19 REGISTRATION
Registration is open through August 30, 2018 for the 2018-19 Year. 
All new and returning students must fill out a registration/Opt Out form above (one per family). 



PREP LEVELS
Required Levels are 1 (beginning Grade 1) through Level 7
Pre-PREP for PreK/K (potty trained) is also part of our Program offering;
and Post Confirmation Youth Group interested in continuing their formation
join with our Level 7 students in November.

NEW STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

New PREP families must
1) Register in the Parish if not registered; (ask if you are unsure);
2) Provide an original Baptismal Certficate
3)  Fill out a PREP family registration form.
Contact the parish of your child's Baptism, or call the Rectory at 215-482-4600
if Baptized from St. John's, St. Mary's, or St. Josaphat. 


 

FEES
$100 First Child, $50 second child, $25 third and subsequent;
Checks Payable to St. John the Baptist or visit the homepage of this
website under "donate now".

Catechesis begins at Home!  Regular home lessons and review through the online component of the text are essential to support your child in their faith journey

PROGRAM CATECHISTS AND VOLUNTEERS:
SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

 

All Staff and Volunteers are required to obtain Pennsylvania State Clearances in working with youth and also complete the required Archdioceasan trainings.
If you are interested in helping with the program, please visit the link below.  All updated clearances must be on file in the Parish Office before the start of the PREP year.

PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

Saint John the Baptist is a multiethnic Roman Catholic Parish rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.  Founded in 1831, the Parish has a rich history of providing spirituality, education, and worship in the Manayunk, Roxborough, and Wissahickon neighborhoods of Philadelphia.  As a Christian community we are united in our mission to share the Gospel, the Sacraments, and love and serve God by caring for one another.  We welcome all people to become part of our vibrant and growing community.  (Ratified January 31, 2016 by Parish Assembly)
